Hello! First post! I started this blog because I want to record my thoughts and process behind projects I'm working on at the moment. There's a lot that goes on in my mind and I have a cathartic need to log it somewhere. I like to journal in real life and thought it's about time I did it with my art and my inspirations behind it. My intentions are to keep this blog relaxed and informal! So forgive me if it goes off on a tangent,, I have no idea where this blog will go. I'm vibin', you're vibin', we're all just chilling.

Drawing Aragon- Six the Musical Character Turnarounds

I debated a lot on whether to make blog posts for each individual queen or bunch them up. I was afraid I wouldn't have much to say about each process because I pretty much do them the same way. But I realized I had new challenges each time I worked on a queen, and there's a lot to say about the each character. Anyways, here is my process from sketch to finish! The cast that I saw in Las Vegas was the Aragon tour cast. So all of these turnarounds are modeled after them! This Aragon is based off of Khalia Wilcoxon. Of course, before drawing each queen I had to look up A LOT of references (for both the person and costumes). This meant looking at the U.S. Tour book, performances on YouTube, and, uh, their Instagram accounts (I am now a certified stalker). Listen Up Let Me Tell You a Story!

So I went to see Six the Musical in Las Vegas at the end of April! I hecking love this musical and have been listening to their songs on repeat for the past couple years. After this experience I decided to draw character turnarounds of each of the main cast members. This is so I could eventually use them for animatics. I not only wanted to use them for storyboard practice, but it was my way of celebrating and appreciating the show in its entirety. Six is phenomenal in multiple aspects. This includes their diverse cast, fire songs, and message of women empowerment. Don't worry, I was not contagious during this cough, as this was post- viral. But I think the person next to me would've appreciated if I wore a mask "owo I got one afterwards tho.
